The Robin by Anna Morris

I wonder how something so small could contain such beauty

As I look out the window at the dainty little robin.

I watch in delight as he hops along the path

His chest heaving, his eyes flitting, his heart throbbing.

His innocence and beauty make the world a brighter place,

Like a ray of light seen through the dark depths of despair.

We live to see signs of hope like these,

They help us cope, in a world in which little we care.

They say that our passed loved ones take form as robins;

Robins watch over us and are pure of heart.

I yearn to see the angelic robin.

His reassurance keeps me from falling apart.

The robin’s sweet voice I long to hear,

It’s sweet, shrill, beautiful sound,

It fills me with joy to hear such music,

It improves the earth to which I’m bound.

It is amazing that a tiny robin could mean so much.

He is oblivious to how I feel.

It is not his being but what he represents

That makes him seem like an angel so real.
