A Helping Hand with Homework…

Sometimes we all need a little help; children as well as parents – at Killeen National School, we believe that the promotion of a child’s educational development is as fundamental in the home as in school. To help you along the way in encouraging your child to achieve the best with their homework, consider the following:

Time – Allow yourself a half hour to help your child with the work they are allocated. This time can be a fantastic opportunity for you to catch up on both of your days and make your child feel as though their homework is important to you.

Patience – Remember that the work we allocate each of our pupils is designed to make them think! We actively encourage children to consider a problem before they attempt to solve it, so allow your child some time to think about their homework without assistance – many times a problem you see as crystal clear is something they have only just learned, they may require a moment to recall what we have taught them during the day.
